Purple Podded Pole Bean
Description: Introduced to the Ozarks region in the 1930’s by Henry Fields, this variety is a favorite of Ozark Mountain old-time farmers. It is a vining bean that will reach heights of 6-7’. Prolific tender purple pods turn green when cooked. Does best in full sun.

Don't forget the inoculant! Peas and Beans are among the crops that add nitrogen to your soil through an association with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Inoculate the roots to make sure they are present in your soil! While peas and beans will still give you a crop without it, it has been shown that plants yield heavier and perform better when inoculated.
